Elephant Grounds A Hong Kong: il nuovo Coffee”all’aperto”

Il nuovo lElephant Grounds Coffee dell’omonima catena, realizzato al piano terra di un edificio ad angolo sulla rinomata via di Star Street Precinct, rappresenta una novità nel modo di pensare e vivere un locale pubblico ad Hong Kong. Lo studio James JJ Acuna of JJA / Bespoke Architecture ha progettato questo spazio con l’intenzione di creare un vero e proprio punto di riferimento per gli abitanti del quartiere e  un caffè “interno-esterno” accessibile e vivibile sia internamente che esternamente.

The new Elephant Grounds Coffee, of the homonymous flagship, realized on the ground floor of a building corner on the Star Street Precinct, represent a new way thinking and living a public space in Hong Kong. Studio James JJ Acuna of JJA / Bespoke Architecture designed this shop with intent to create a new point for the neighborhood and a Coffee “Indoor-Outdoor”.

Questo stretto rapporto tra esterno ed interno è reso possibile grazie alla realizzazione di ampie finestre meccaniche e finestre in metallo con parapetti organizzati in comode sedute, mentre all’entrata è posizionato un piano bar rientrato per permettere una fruizione più veloce, pensata appositamente per i lavoratori dei numerosi uffici del quartiere.

Lo spazio interno ed esterno è caratterizzato da un mix di legnami dal colore caldo, intervallati da innesti neri ed un’importante portata di luce naturale che contribuisce ad abbassare l’impatto ambientale del locale oltre che ad aumentarne il comfort. La presenza di numerose piante inoltre contribuisce a donare all’intero ambiente l’aspetto di un giardino, cambiando non solo l’aspetto dell’edificio in cui è stato realizzato il coffee, ma la vivibilità e la percezione dell’intero quartiere.

This cafe maximizes the use of natural daylight by incorporating large mechanical glass and metal windows throughout the majority of its facade, whilst taking advantage of the street’s pedestrian oriented location through the placement of timber window benches which double as both interior and exterior seating. In the front section there is a pushed back area allowing for a useful outdoor coffee bar service area, thought to worker of the close offices.

Interior and exterior space is decored with a mix of woods and black elements, while a lot of plants give to shop the appearance of a garden, changing the building’s look and the way to living and feeling the whole neighborhood.
